Dear Brothers,

The long wait is over! Phi Sigma Kappa is returning to Blacksburg!

Representatives from the current Epsilon Hexaton Alumni Foundation (EHAF) met with Phi Sigma Kappa National Representatives last month to discuss our return to the VA Tech campus. Dave Spreitzer, the Grand Chapter President, and David Jones, the Director of Expansion, met with Virginia Tech Interfraternity Council on July 16, 2004. The IFC members told the PSK National representatives that they were very much looking forward to our return to Blacksburg. The current IFC leader transferred from another university where he developed a great relationship with other Phi Sigs. In fact, the IFC wants us to begin rush this fall. We were granted permission from the University to begin rush on September 24, 2004.

David Jones will organize the recruitment and rechartering efforts. He will start his process on campus by meeting with different Greek and non-affiliated campus leaders to try to identify potential Charter Brother candidates. He will schedule several open Rush functions and events on and off campus. Along those lines, if you know of any good men on campus, please contact David at 317-902-3289 or david@phisigmakappa.org. David plans on aggressively, associating 15-to-20 men by October 2004. At that point, we would become an official Colony Chapter. From that point forward, the plan is to identify and associate approximately 5 members each month throughout the rest of the school year. If all goes as planned, the colony would become an official Chapter with 40-to-50 men in September 2005. One of the events planned for this fall will be an alumni tailgate. Look for the ??? Flag coming to a tailgate near you this fall. Once I see the posted times for the games for the NC State and WVU games, I will get the word out and host an official EHAF Alumni Tailgate.

EHAF will be assisting the Grand Chapter’s expansion efforts by developing an annual EHAF Scholarship Awards Program and covering some of the costs associated with the planned Rush functions. The annual scholarship fund will be used to award top GPA members and to send the student executive board members to the ??? National Conventions. If you are interested in donating to the Scholarship fund, please send contributions to E.H.A.F. at the address below.

We still own the House at 600 South Main Street in Blacksburg. The House has been leased to other Greek organizations for the past several years in order to maintain our “non-conforming Zoning’ status. Prior to leasing the house, it underwent a $150,000 renovation, thanks to the donations from many of you and a refinancing. As of July 2005, the lease with the current tenant will expire and the plan is to have ??? return to this address. A much smaller and quicker rehab will be completed on the House during July and August. Renovations will include bathroom modifications, new carpet and paint, and a full renovation of the back apartment. The newest associate members of ??? will assist where possible with landscaping, painting and general cleaning of the house in order to develop some “sweat equity”. The plan for the back apartment is to keep it open for a potential Chapter/Alumni Advisor. We will also return to having some tailgating functions at the House next fall (2005) and spring home sport weekends. Again, E.H.A.F. donations will be accepted for House renovations throughout the year with more details on the plans to come later his year. I am meeting with a local contractor on the weekend of October 16th. Anyone interested in attending the House walk through, please contact me for more information.

I hope I have covered everyone’s biggest concerns in this short letter. Please do not hesitate to contact David Jones or me for more details. Again, thank you for your support. I am looking forward to catching up with all of you soon. Please forward this letter to anyone you believe may not be on the distribution list due to a recent move and let us know so we can correct the data. Keep an eye on the new E.H.A.F. website under development at www.EpsilonHexaton.org and www.VtPhiSig.org.
